I am part of several hotel travel rewards clubs and out of laziness or unconcern, I have missed out on lots of perks. Of course I take full part in cashing my hotel points for free nights, or flight points for flights. I did not realize that I wasn’t using my perks to their full potential. SPG or Starwood Hotels are my favorite stops because they are consistently private, comfortable, and clean. The brand also has the most locations near my hometown in South Carolina, and my favorite Florida and Atlanta attractions.
I have earned free nights at Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, The W, Sheraton and Westin Hotels, and now realize that I should have been saving toward free flights and even buying Starpoints towards rewards. The price for Starpoints help me earn rewards faster than conventional earning per stays and I can get plane flights from staying in their hotels. Right now, Starwood Preferred Guest program is selling Starpoints for 35% off through March 16, if you purchase at 5000 Starpoints in a single transaction. Members of the SPG Starpoints Program are allowed to purchase up to 30,000 Starpoints, per account, per year. That means if I purchased all my yearly points at once, instead of paying $1050, I could get them for $682.50.
That is an awesome deal because I live for room service and spa, and my hotel stay prices can add up fast. What is even better, that if I charge my stay to an SPG American Express Card, I can earn double Starpoints per dollar spent. Those points are transferable to more than 24 airline partners including American Airlines, Virgin, United, Jet Airways, Delta and more with perks of their own that can be joined for premium point earnings. Starwood Hotel’s deal on Starpoints ends early next month, so do not miss out on a chance to maximum your travel to warm locales this winter.
